"Loop system"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I had an appointment which went well but I have to wear two hearing aids and without the use of the ‘loop system’ I struggled with communication as the doctor was wearing a mask. I could make out some bits about a camera and the procedure, but I struggled and wasn’t sure what he was saying. I believe they are sending a letter to my doctor but I am not sure why, waiting to see what happens next. I couldn’t see any information about a loop system either and although the appointment went well, I think it may be useful to have some signage for the loop system as it makes a big difference.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I was very sorry to learn of the communication difficulties you experienced at the clinic. I can only imagine how distressing this must have been and your frustration is completely understandable. If you are able to email me, linda.russell7@aapct.scot.nhs.uk, I'll do all I can to help.

I also note your feedback in relation to the loop hearing system, which we will share with our Facilities Team..

With best wishes,

Linda
