"My husband was admitted with a ischaemic stroke"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Acute Medical Receiving Unit (AMRU)

(as a relative),

During this COVID pandemic the team that worked with my husband were terrific. He firstly was seen to by the paramedics which I believe was the army. He was taken to A and E and was transmitted to ward 2. I have never seen staff work so hard. No one stood still for more than 5 seconds yet the care was fantastic. Unfortunately there were no beds available in the stroke ward. After 4 days he got a bed in ward 14 and nurses, physios and doctors gave the care needed for his recovery.  The tea lady ( Margaret) also added her special care making my husband feel special.

I wish to thank everyone involved and say you were born to do the job you’re doing. Thank you so much.

Dear Composerry53

Sorry to hear of your husbands ischaemic stroke, I hope he is recovering well!

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and share your (and your husbands) experience during his admission. I will pass on your kind comments to the team who will be delighted to hear they made a positive impression on you.

Kindest Regards

Angela
