"A horrible experience having my covid booster"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Covid Vaccination Programme

(as a service user),

Horrible experience.   I can't wear a mask for medical reasons and they had a complete panic in front of people, which was embarrassing.  It wasn't just one helper it was three saying I wasn't wearing a mask.   People were looking at me.

They had to put me behind some screens which was fine but the whole experience was awful and I don't want to come again. I suggest that the helpers are trained in looking after people with no mask the same way as people with masks, with respect,  and to deal with it quietly.  They should understand that there must be a very good reason for someone coming into the vaccine clinic without a mask.

"I am so sorry to hear about your recent experience with us in regards to wearing a mask. It is disappointing when we have continued to reiterate to staff the importance of understanding disabilities including disabilities that may be hidden. I will ensure that your upsetting experience is reported into our daily safety briefing as a means to learn and prevent future upset. On behalf the whole vaccination team I would like to formally apologise for this experience which I fully appreciate has been disappointing for you.
