At the end of November I was admitted to the hospital with severe chest pains and a hacking cough. After a 999 phone call, which I didn’t really want to make as I didn't think it wast serious enough to warrant emergency treatment. I was sent promptly to the hospital
After admission and assessment, I spent nearly 5 hours in A & E and was admitted to Crick ward. I was put on intravenous antibiotics and oxygen.
I was then transferred to Gray ward and was closely monitored and taken off oxygen a couple of days later.
I was very lucky to be admitted to hospital considering, I didn’t realise how ill I was.
Amazing staff, nurses, doctors ancillary staff. Every one of them.
Despite working in the midst of a pandemic, short staffed in some cases, they work tirelessly and professionally, sometimes suffering intolerable stress and abuse from patients.
I have family who didn’t want to go near a hospital because of the pandemic, which is understandable but I had no other choice. I made it easier for them by meeting them in the coffee shop when I was a little bit better to move around and I had approval from the medical staff.
I can’t praise the NHS high enough for their dedication to duty and unending effort, in the face of the a pandemic.
This was my main reason for not wanting to risk ringing an ambulance in the first place.
Okay I wasn’t well but I didn’t think I was unwell enough to warrant an emergency call. My family insisted on it.
The paramedics called to my door and assessed me. It didn’t take them long to decide I needed immediate hospital attention.
I’m not a great story writer so this may sound a bit all over the place, but every word is true.
"Amazing staff, nurses, doctors and ancillary staff"
