Everything is fine here since I came in last Sunday. I was first at the green zone in A&E, then the yellow zone and then the Acute Medical Unit. I am much happier now I am here on this ward. Everything seems much more organised here compared to where I was previously. It is great as everything is run so much more on time for example if you need a drip put up at 2pm it will happen at 2pm and that is the same regarding any medication you need at a specific time too. The nurses are brilliant here and again the ward isn’t as hectic as AMU was but I know that it is a busy ward. The Doctors are grand too and explain everything simply to you which is good. I always ask questions anyway when I don’t understand. The food is edible and it is what it is for hospital food so I can’t really complain about that it’s not a major issue. It is always warm which is great. The only things are the timings of certain meals are quite close together. Breakfast would be 9/9:30am and then before you know it the lunches are coming round at 12/12:30pm when you may not be feeling hungry enough for it. Again then the dinner will come round at 4:45/5pm and you’re not feeling ready for it yet. Sometimes you don’t get to sleep until around 11pm so by then you are feeling a little hungry at this stage as it’s quite a big gap from 5 to 11 at night. It would be good to have a light snack before bed maybe or even for the meals to be more spread out. The ward is cleaned regularly and is spotless again which was not always my experience on AMU. I do feel safe in terms of COVID-19 as we are swabbed everyday now instead of every 3 days now and I am fully vaccinated which gives me more reassurance. If I’m going down to the shop I wear my mask too so I do all I can to protect myself and those around me.
