"Care at the Blossom Ward"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Blossom Ward (Paediatrics) Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

We came into A&E on Friday, as advised by our doctor, and were then sent here to the Blossom unit. Everything is grand here the nurses and doctors are both very good. The ward is always 100% clean and the food is great for both myself and my daughter. The main negative I would have to voice is that the Doctors don’t tend to explain things very well. They don’t explain the plan for care or breakdown the big medical terms into something I can understand and then know what is happening with my daughter. The nurses are good because they can then further explain it very well to me afterwards if I don’t understand. We hope to get to go home soon.

Dear Chlst75 thank you for bringing to our attention about how some things are not explained clearly enough for you: I will bring to the attention of medical colleagues so that this can be reviewed and improved going forward. It is important that parents understand the detail of all care plans.

I am glad that all other aspects of yours and your daughters stay were positive. The domestic staff will be delighted to read your lovely comments on the cleanliness of the ward - they take great pride in their work.

I sincerely hope your daughter recovers very soon to allow you to get home.

Regards

Bernie
