"Friendly staff exacerbated by lack of services"

About: Blandford Community Hospital

We visited the minor injuries unit and the staff at the unit were efficient, helpful and welcoming. Covid considered we were seen to without fuss. I must complain about the lack of full time X-ray facilities at this hospital. Due to this we were unable to be fully assessed and have had to drive to Weymouth to be X-rayed and fully assessed. If the unit is to be of any use to the community of Blandford Forum then it surely must consider full time X-ray services and other complimentary services offered. Surely this would take the pressure off other hospitals in the area that have to pick up the slack?! In summary, fantastic staff who need a better support network.

Dear Alex,

We are sorry that at the time you attended there were no X-ray facilities open to you. The X-ray service is designed to meet the service demand and is matched to open at the time the most patients attend the unit. We constantly review our services, and your feedback will contribute to our reviews so thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Kind regards,

Stef Thomas,

Operational Lead for Weymouth and Portland Community Urgent Care Centre and Dorset Healthcare MIU’s.
