"My Daughter getting an ambulance and the crew were absolutely outstanding"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had to be given her rescue meds due to epilepsy seizures, 999 was called..we live quite down the peninsula, it took them just 30 mins to get to us which was brilliant..my Daughter has complex needs and Hospital has always been very challenging for her.. when she came round in ambulance Patrick was absolutely amazing..telling her wee stories and showing her pictures of his pets & this meant so so much to her and made it a very positive & good experience and he give her a bar of chocolate (her favourite) to keep when she gets to hospital to see the Doctors..and a wee crystal to always keep her safe, it touched us so so much! She talks about him every day & stated next time she wants them 2 to come to take us to Hospital..absolutely amazing they deserve recognition as I am forever greatful how it all went smoothly!

Dear Hayey47

What a heart warming and uplifting story!

One of a parents worst fears is their child becoming so ill they require a visit to the local emergency room. That fear must be hugely exacerbated when the child in question has complex needs and an acute fear of hospitals.

To hear a NIAS crew made this type of impression on your daughter is nothing short of phenomenal and the treatment and care they provided has clearly had a positive impact on both you and more importantly, your beautiful daughter.

I would be delighted to be able to share your compliments with the crew involved however I would require a few extra details to enable me to identify and locate them. If you would be prepared to discuss this, please contact me on amanda.sweetlove@nias.hscni.net

I hope your daughter is feeling a lot better and keeps her healing crystal in a place where it will hopefully remind her that medical staff only ever want to help her.

Take care and stay safe.

Amanda
