My Dad was recently admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and later transferred to ward 55 in the Langlands Unit.
My Dad is 83 and never been ill or been in hospital in his life, so to say we were worried was an understatement.
From admission he was treated with dignity and respect and both he and my sister were kept fully informed. Due to bed pressures he was kept in the admissions unit until the late hours of the Sunday night.
The staff, both medical and nursing, in ward 55, were nothing short of amazing. In particular, Andrea, the SCN, Peter the SSN, Dr Shariff, Consultant, Stuart the Registrar and Callum the FY1 were outstanding, keeping us updated, albeit with very devastating results.
As a Nurse myself, some distance from my Dad, I appreciated being given my Dad's diagnosis with openness and transparency by the medical team.
My Dad himself could not fault the care given to him by the team. For an elderly gentleman this was a daunting experience but he could not speak highly enough of the team, who were obviously under extreme staffing and bed pressures.
Thank you to all, you are all a credit to our NHS
