"Heart attack"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Ambulance Control Centre Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / Cardiology University Hospital Hairmyres / Coronary Care Unit

(as a relative),

My wife had a heart attack at 3 a.m. The 999 operator was calm, organised, and got us doing sensible things when we could. The ambulance arrived quickly; the paramedics liaised with the Cath Lab at Hairmyres and prepped her in the living room. I went to see her at 7 a.m. at the Coronary Care Unit at Hairmyres and she was fine and chatting after getting two stents - staff there kindness itself. She was transferred to the Coronary Care Unit at Ayr that afternoon. The staff at Ayr the next day were superb, including the Staff Nurse, Cardiologist, the scanning staff, and others - she was anxious to get home and they were so responsive and understanding. She came out that afternoon.

Dear cratergr35

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of your wife's recent admission to the Cath Lab at University Hospital Hairmyres for stent insertion, following a heart attack at home. I can appreciate this was a very worrying time for you both, but I was delighted to read that you were reassured when you were able to visit your wife shortly after her procedure. Thank you also for commenting on the kindness displayed by our staff. Please be assured that your lovely post will be shared with the team in the Cath Lab who I know will be most appreciative of you recognising their professionalism.

May I take this opportunity of wishing your wife a speedy recovery and send you both my best wishes for the future.

Lesley

Dear Cratergr35

Thankyou very much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read that your wife had reason to use our services when suffering a heart attack. this must have been terrifying for you both. I hope that she is feeling much better now and on the road to a full recovery. It is incredible what they can do in the Cath Lab.

I am really pleased to read the lovely comments in regards to our staff. The call handler appears to have done a great job. If you would like, we can pass your comments on to the staff that were involved in your wifes care and let them know she is doing well. If you would like that then I would just need some more details, the date, time and address where we attended as well as your wifes name. This can be emailed to sas.feedback@nhs.scot. If you do decide to do this, I would be very grateful if you could also make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily link your email to this story.

Again, thank you and I wish you and your wife all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
