(as the patient),

On entering the day surgery unit, I was immediately made to feel welcome from firstly attending the reception desk to then being taken to a cubicle for the nurses to prepare me for my leg surgery.

Every single person who dealt with me were polite, courteous and very knowledgeable within their profession. After everything was in order the surgeon then came to discuss the procedure and aftercare with me.

On being taken to theatre all of the staff within the unit were also polite, courteous and explained everything to me in detail.

Once the operation was completed, again everything was explained to me in detail and I as given refreshments to make me feel better from the anaesthetic.

The surgeon then attended once again.

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of your recent attendance at the Day Surgery Unit, University Hospital Hairmyres.

I am delighted to read that your care and experience was very positive. I was also pleased that prior to your leg surgery, staff took the time to speak to you to provide you with any relevant information and updated you post procedure. Hopefully this helped to alleviate any concerns or anxieties you may have experienced prior to your attendance.

The staff in the Day Surgery Unit work extremely hard to provide patients with the highest standard of care possible and I will ensure that your comments are passed on to the team.
