"Surgery and recovery"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Yesterday I had to be at Eden ward for 7am. I was welcomed and looked after so well. The nurses, care staff and even domestic team where fabulous. I then went on to have my operation and same again not a moment I felt uncomfortable. The staff where jolly caring and nice. My recovery in Newlyn unit was exceptionally good. The staff was 130% nothing was to much. Nurse Jacky and another nurse (whose name has gone from me) have been beyond caring.

The biggest let down and for me a painful event was the recliner. Not really great after abdominal surgery. The legs don’t stay up and need a chair underneath to do so. They are also very low so harder to stand up. (Definitely needs looking at)

Overall score  a 9.8

Dear Moonminxy373,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you on here. I was pleased to see that you were welcomed and well looked after by the team on Eden ward and that your positive experience continued as you recovered on Newlyn. I am responding to you as a member of the Patient and Family Experience Team here at the Trust, but I will make sure that the staff and departments mentioned in your story above see your feedback and that Jacky get's a special "thank you" via our "Learning from Excellence" scheme.

I am sorry that you had a painful experience while using the recliner chair in recovery. I will again share your feedback with the team on Newlyn to make them aware that there is a problem with their reclining chairs so that they can make improvements where possible.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your story with us, I hope you are continuing to recover well at home.

Best wishes,

Jess

Dear Moonminxy373,

Thank you for your feedback. My role as Governance Lead for theatres means I am in a position to feed out all compliments and comments received, I have fed out your thanks through our weekly Governance meeting, our recovery Manager for Newlyn attends and has passed this on to the team mentioned.

I will ask the team to look into what can be done with regards to the recliners, even extra pillows or blankets may help make our patients more comfortable, appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I wish you a safe recovery and once more thank you for your time.

Kind regards, Anneka
