My lovely very poorly Uncle was admitted to Turner Ward as an emergency admission
Even tho I was only his niece I was allowed free visiting and was welcomed even very late in the evening
Without exception the nurses were quite wonderful , he always looked comfortable . If he became restless they were straight there to alter his medication if needed or to change his position in the bed.
The nurses also asked me what he was like as they had only seen him semi conscious and unable to respond to them .
While with him they all talked to him explaining what they were going to do even tho he seemed to be unconscious.
They also looked after my sister and myself when we came to sit with him and his sons and daughter in law
It was always hard to leave him but I felt confident every time I did that he was in very good caring hands .
I was very sad that he could not have been at home for his last days but it would have not have been possible to keep him stable and comfortable at home after what happened to him so it really helped so much especially now thinking back over his short time in hospital on Turner Ward , of the wonderful nursing care he received night and day as we had met both his day and night nurses.
Also I was told that no patient or member of staff had had covid. The precautions taken before we entered the ward were very reassuring , so were the instructions before we entered the hospital.
