My husband developed a new renal condition a few days into the first coronavirus lockdown, two days after the birth of our baby. Within 24 hours of us realising something serious was wrong with him, he was admitted to the renal ward of Belfast City Hospital & having a renal biopsy to get a diagnosis. This prompt action was out-standing considering the renal team were coping with the enormous pressures & challenges the covid-19 pandemic had brought and the hospital was morphing into the NI Nightingale facility.
In the past 20 months since his diagnosis he has been reviewed face-to-face by this amazing team every 2-3 weeks, despite the professional challenges they endure due to the on-going health crisis.
When he recently became suddenly unwell on three occasions, this wonderful medical team have speedily been contactable & arranged direct ward admission to treat my husband safely and promptly.
The medical care he has received during this difficult period of our lives has been nothing short of magnificent. We are lucky to have such a world class health service, which astonishingly is free of cost.
We will be eternally grateful to these superheroes & no amount of thanks can ever really convey our appreciation.
