After having many years of deteriorating mobility my doctor referred me to the local Bellshill Community Care Team. At this time I needed help with almost every aspect of my day to day living. I needed help getting up of the couch, help to go to the bathroom, help getting dressed and hadn’t been upstairs for several years so I had been sleeping on the couch which was making the pain in my joints so much worse. Life was just so bad and I didn’t know what to do or who to turn to when in came two angels from Community care, Julie and my physio Kevin .
They listened and were so caring and compassionate and I felt myself opening up to them. They took my issues one at a time and explained how we were going to make this better. I had no confidence at this point but slowly and surely with their support and encouragement things began to change. Julie was fabulous and arranged for me to have my couch raised so it was easier to get up unaided apart from my stick, she arranged for my toilet seat to be raised so that I could manage that humiliation on my own and then arranged a stairlift ! Oh my goodness for the first time in years I slept in my bed- oh joy.
As for Kevin where do I start. He gave me exercises to strengthen my weaknesses in my legs which I did religiously, he placed a chair in my dining room so I could rest before making my way way to the downstairs toilet. To be honest I could write a book on everything they did for me not just physically but mentally! How can I ever thank them enough. Don’t get me wrong I’m no Olympic sprinter and I know I will always have mobility issues but I am coping now whereas before I was just a lost soul thinking my life was over and I was going to be in a wheelchair.
Too many people today are quick to complain when they are not pleased with a service or if they have an issue that needs resolving. I have had a fabulous service from some of the kindest, caring , compassionate individuals I have had pleasure in meeting. I am writing to thank them for all that they have done to make my life bearable. Julie and Kevin are a credit to their profession and to you as their employer.
"Kind, compassionate team"
