As someone who works in the NHS, I know the importance of having my Covid vaccine booster. So I arranged it for the first date that I could have it at Renfrew Leisure centre. I planned the date so I would have a few days off after it in case of any side effects.
When I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time, there was a queue of people waiting outside and I was told by the person acting as steward that I could not have my vaccine as the nurses had said no one else could join the queue. I explained that I had an appointment but he stated that so did the people already in the queue.
After I was sent away, I saw several other people also being turned away.
I was very disappointed in my experience - I had trouble free visits for my first 2 vaccines elsewhere. I would not have minded queuing but to be sent away when the vaccine is booked is outrageous - as the visits are pre booked, the clinic must know how many people are planned to attend.
I’ve managed to rearrange my appointment for a few days time and had to phone the vaccination help line 3 times before I was able to speak to someone as the line kept cutting out. I had tried to rebook on line but was unable to because of the existing appointment on that night.
It was just such a waste of everyone’s time and money, particularly at a time when so many people are trying to get their Covid boosters
