"GP Safe Haven scheme"

About: GP Safehaven Scheme

(as a service user),

When you ring your doctor for an appointment you have a receptionist that takes your call and sorts it all out for you.  But with the GP Safe Haven scheme provided for patients with mental health and who are very vulnerable and have  other problems,  when you ring this doctors you have to speak to an answering machine and leave a message.   You then have to wait until someone checks the answering machine. I believe that they are  supposed to check it every day then a receptionist rings you back or a doctor does and gives you want or a prescription without seeing you.

People with mental health problems should be seen face to face so both can get to know what's going on.  It is hard to talk to someone down the phone and it's very frustrating to have to speak to a answering machine and then have to wait for them to ring back.  Sometimes it's three days before you get that call. It's called safe haven but there's nothing safe haven about it. In my view the patients are treated unfairly.  I do not think this scheme is working and a real person needs to be on the other end of the phone.   I don't know of any  other doctors practice that runs this way.
