"An uncomfortable procedure"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I attended the Queen Margaret Hopsital in Dunfermline for a hysteroscopy and polypectomy in the outpatients clinic. It was a painful and uncomfortable procedure to be fully conscious and without sedation etc., but I endured it as I wanted the polyp removed and the procedure to succeed. The consultant, a year 5 medical student and the 3 nurses in attendance were all lovely - especially one of the nurses and the Dr - ? Vanishree  Lakshmi Narayana Rao. As soon as the procedure was finished I felt much more comfortable . The service provided was excellent although, as a healthcare professional myself, I think sedation should be offered and possibly IV analgesia if required.

Hi Nursesid

Thank you for providing this valuable feedback. I'm sorry you found the procedure particularly painful and uncomfortable but pleased to hear that the staff involved were able to provide reassurance and comfort. I will discuss your points raised regarding sedation and analgesia with the team at our next meeting. I hope you've continued to recover well.
