"Refuse Care for Abusive patients"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 North Cardiology Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I went to A&E with a continuous nose bleed but it turned out I was having an angina attack. I was then moved to 1 north I feel content but I’d rather be home with the wife. We live in the country and she doesn’t like being home alone in the dark evenings. The food is wonderful but again I prefer my wife’s she been cooking for me for over 40 years and she knows how I like it.

The only improvement I can think of is to refuse care for abusive patients as the language and behaviour is terrible and they don’t deserve to be cared for if that’s their attitude.

Dear Elsfk75 - thank you for providing this feedback and we hope you are recovering well. Unfortunately we cannot refuse care to someone if they need emergency care. We try to diffuse any abuse and bad language. If this cannot be done we work closely with our security team.

Best wishes

Paul Smyth

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of 1 North. I am glad that you felt content staying in the ward, and that the food was good, although not up to the same standard as your wife which I'm sure is hard to beat. I'm sure she was glad to have you back home with her.

Really hope your recovering well.

Kind Regards

Kirsty
