"I will forever remember their kindness"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Victoria Hospital / Acute Stroke Unit

(as the patient),

I was admitted from ED in the early hours of the morning to ward 6E. I hadn't eaten and had no belongings work me as did not expect to be admitted. The training doctor that first came to ED was very pleasant and compassionate, she explained in great detail the reasons as to why I needed to be admitted. On arrival to ward 6e, the two nursing staff treated me like a relative that has came to stay in the middle of the night. One made me something to eat and the other made up my bed and got a phone charger so that I could keep in contact with my husband. They called regularly to check I was ok throughout the night.

The following morning, I was met with another nurse who again provided me with toiletries to wash, and food. The standard of care and compassion was exceptional across all groups of nursing staff within the ward and finally by the consultant Dr Roberts and his clinical team. They may not remember me, but I will forever remember their kindness.

Dear Eenz

My name is Margaret Devlin and I the Service Manager for the Stroke Service in the Royal Hospital.

Thankyou for you lovely comments about the staff and how well you were cared for on admission. It is never easy being admitted to hospital especially as an emergency admission. I am glad the staff were able to get you settled and give you some food. Dr Roberts and his team will be very grateful for your kind words.

I hope you have recovered from your illness and are making good progress. I will share your experience with the team it is really important that they see such lovely comments.

Again thankyou for taking the time to write and tell us your experiences.
