"Death after fall and complaint to Ombudsman"

About: Trecarrel Care Home

My aunt experienced two falls in her first 9 days at this home, only a month after the CQC had inspected it and increased its rating to 'Good'. No proper investigation was carried out after the first fall and the second fall resulted in a broken hip. She never recovered from this injury, dying in hospital 6 weeks later.

I was very concerned about the standard of her care and complained to the Local Government Social Care Ombudsman. My complaint was upheld. The full report can be found on the 'Decisions' section of the LGSCO website by searching under the name of the provider, Cornwallis Care Services Ltd.

Decision no: 20 001 924

Date: 03 June 2021.

If you are considering placing your loved one in Trecarrel please first read the Ombudsman's decision.
