Lovely staff, and volunteers working under pressure today giving covid booster vaccinations. Today was a very busy day, from arriving for my appointment, to leaving (including the 15min wait to make sure I’d no adverse reactions), in total it took an hour. Parking can be a challenge, as it’s close to shops, and a section of the car park was closed off for works, so ideally a taxi, or friend dropping you off would be ideal. Wrap up warm, as if it’s busy you may be standing outside for 20-30mins. If you’re unable to stand for long ask the volunteer on the door for a chair, which they kindly did for 4 people in my queue. It’s a difficult job, in challenging circumstances. Please be mindful to keep your mask up & on (not as a chin warmer, which risks dragging germs up from your neck to your face) and remember to socially distance, during busy times people in the queue got much closer than a meter. As someone who has been shielding for 2 years (due to cancer in my bone marrow, which is part of the immune system), even though I’m doubled jabbed, I have NO antibody protection from Covid, so found it very unsettling to have people standing so close to me. I explained this to the volunteer who kindly let me stand to one side, away from people. There was good humour in the crowd, even though queues we’re long. Volunteers apologised for the wait, and offered to sing to entertain people. I hope this information is useful for people to know in advance, it may just have been an exceptionally busy day today. Thank you to the staff and volunteers.
