"Pregnancy Ended at 22 Weeks"

Unfortunately at 21 weeks gestation, my unborn baby was diagnosed with severe cardiac defects. I had to deliver at 22 weeks on the ward. There were no signs of life since the pregnancy was at only 22 weeks. This event was absolutely heartbreaking and horrendous. My husband and I decided to consent to an autopsy and testing however, and the results showed that this was unfortunately just a very sad scenario where the baby had not developed properly for some reason.

I want to say how incredibly grateful I am to the specialist midwives, sonographer, and the consultant, who supported my husband I throughout this time. Giving birth in a private room on the ward was very painful and emotional, but the care and support from the staff was outstanding.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all involved who helped us both emotionally and physically through such a sad and painful situation. Your levels of dedication, expertise, and kindness, were honestly what got me through such an awful experience.

Thank you.

I fully understand if my story is not posted in the maternity section of the website as I understand how upsetting this may be for people to read. I do however hope that the hospital staff are made aware of how wonderful they are via my submission to this website.
