"Ambulance service and great care"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 North Cardiology Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as the patient),

I had a collapse episode at the beginning of August where I lost consciousness 11 times in one night, then brought in as we found my heart was in sinus arrest any time I was out. The paramedics who attended were extremely companionate and reassuring. They stayed past their shift to make sure I wasn’t alone and didn’t ‘misbehave’ (promised I wouldn’t then lost my pulse twice). I cannot remember their names as I wasn’t fully with it when they arrived and when they were leaving but in between when I was conscious we had a good chat and they made sure I was comfortable and happy. They really went above and beyond and I cannot thank them enough. All I know is they were from the Dungannon branch and brought me into Craigavon on the 9th of Aug.

I was then sent to resus followed by a stay in 1 north, all of which were amazing and helped in any way they could. There was a nurse I believe her name was Rebecca who really helped when I first arrived in the ward along with a student nurse (whose name I can’t remember! So sorry) both of which made me feel at ease along with all the other nurses I met!!

Hey, thank you for taking the time to share your experience of 1 North.

I'm so glad that you found the team here in 1 North to be helpful. I'm sure it was a very scary and worrying time to say the least but its great to hear that the nursing staff made you feel more at ease. I will make sure to pass your kind comments on to the rest of the team here in 1 north, especially Rebecca, they will all be so pleased.

I really hope that you are starting to feel better.

All the best

Kirsty

Dear jazzrm35

What an extremely frightening and traumatic experience that must have been! We are extremely grateful for your lovely comments about the team who attended to you and their dedication to your comfort and care.

It always provides a warm and heartwarming boost to morale when someone takes the time to write about their experience with you. To hear they feel you "went above and beyond" is high praise indeed. I would very much like to share your positive compliments with the crew involved however would need a few extra details to enable me to identify them. If you would be prepared to discuss this further, please contact me on amanda.sweetlove@nias.hscni.net

I hope you are taking plenty of rest and enjoy a full and speedy recovery. Thankfully you received the appropriate care in a timely fashion, even though you did not keep your promise not to 'misbehave'.

Take care

Amanda
