"Worth the wait"

About: Central Hub (Iapt)

When I first began treatment with Talk Liverpool, I wasn't super impressed. I was given an online "course" type thing to do which was extremely unhelpful to me as it was very basic level information about depression and anxiety. I was then put on a 6 month wait list for PTSD treatment, which I thought was excessively long (especially for people who may find this condition unmanageable). However, when I did finally receive treatment, it was well worth the wait. The therapist I was assigned was so helpful, kind, and understanding, while also knowing when it was necessary to be more tough or blunt. We mainly did EMDR therapy, and it is shocking and amazing how helpful it was. I couldn't believe how quickly my PTSD symptoms went away. This is an amazing and helpful service, providing very necessary care. I just wish they had the staff/budget to do more direct face to face therapy rather than the app/website, and to reduce the wait time. As I began the process during the pandemic, all of my sessions were online (but with video). This was ideal for me, as part of my symptoms included social anxiety and distrust of people. The online element made it easier for me to connect, without the anxiety of actually attending, and also made attending around my working schedule so much easier. I hope they still offer this as an option when in person sessions are available, as it was so much easier for me to feel comfortable fully connecting in sessions while being in the comfort of my home. I would reccomend this to anybody feeling down and considering getting help. It has genuinely changed my life.
