"Our brave mum & her brilliant team in Ward B5"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre / Ward B5

(as a relative),

Our mum arrived at Ward B5 (Beatson) to start her radiotherapy in August, she was terrified. Not because of her diagnosis, or her impending treatment- as she had been there before (over 30 years ago, but she remembered it well).

What was really scaring her was the way she had been treated in another hospital recently, and being a fiercely independent lady of 82 she didn't like to have to depend on anyone - but having also suffered a stroke she needed to be supported. As her youngest daughter I was also really reluctant to leave her in the care of the team in B5, and sought reassurance several times before leaving her that 1st day.

What I want to feedback is mum could not have been in better hands! She was so well looked after - which we knew within her very 1st day- that it was 1 less thing to worry about.

We cannot thank Ward B5 in Beatson enough for their dedication and care of our mum. Every single team member were absolute professionals in every aspect of their work.

Thank you to all the people who work in Ward B5, providing the vest best of care and attention to some of the most vulnerable people in need of support. You should all be very proud.

Dear J's Daughter

Thank you for taking the time to post such lovely feedback in regards to you and your mothers experience of Ward B5 of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

Firstly I'm sorry to hear of the bad experience your mother had in a previous hospital and can completely understand her reluctance to be treated again after such an event.

It was however very touchy to read how your mother and the family's opinion soon changed after attending Ward B5. It was great to hear how you both held the staff in such high regard even after just one visit and how that experience stayed with you.

Your mother sounds like a remarkable woman and as you said at the ripe age of 82 strongly independent so to hear such glowing reviews of the staff is extremely nice to hear.

I will be sure to pass on your comments to all the staff in Ward B5 who I'm sure will be as touched to read your story as I was.

Please take care and wish your mum well from myself and all the staff in Ward B5 of the Beatson this means a lot to everyone involved.

Kind regards

Kevin
