"Rapid Response Team and Bridgewater Suite our Heroes"

About: Clinical Haematology / Bridewater Suite - Haematology Older People’s Services / Rapid Response Teams

(as a service user),

We suffer from Von Willebrands Disease which is an inherited bleeding disorder. We have to receive Voncento which is human Von Willebrand factor (VWF) and human factor VIII, and it  replaces  low, missing or faulty blood clotting proteins when we bleed or before we have any invasive medical treatment. This is organised by the Bridgewater Suite (Haemophilia Centre City Hospital Belfast) and the Rapid Response team in Gransha, (Western Health Trust) Derry.

The attention that we receive from everyone in Belfast and Derry is immediate and absolutely first class. From the Consultant to the Auxiliary Nurse you are a wonderful team. We as a family know that we can lead normal lives because of these services and most importantly those who work in both. They always go the extra mile and they epitomise all that is great about our caring services. From our family in Derry, Thank You for helping us live normal lives and when needed, saving our lives. You are our true heroes.

Thank you 'Derryone' for taking the time to post your lovely comment. I have passed this on to everyone in the Haemophilia Team.

Thank you for recognising everyone in the team. 'Team' is really important to us as great effort is made to provide a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care.

I would also echo your comments to the Western Trust Rapid Response Team. We really love working with them to coordinate care for patients with bleeding disorders. They do an amazing job in helping us to facilitate local procedures!

Love your explanation of your condition - couldn't have said it better myself.

Thanks again

Hello and thank you so much 'Derryone' for recognising the 'team' and the care which is provided in the clinical intervention centre in Gransha Park.

I have shared your praise and recognition with the team here, and your kind words have certainly uplifted everyone.

Again, I must echo the thoughts of my colleague Helen Manson in the Belfast City Hospital.'Team' is so important to us all, as we constantly strive to maintain and improve our service, so that we can deliver specialist treatments to our local population closer to home. We have great support and clinical leadership from our colleagues in Belfast, however, that you as a service user, recognise our effort and skills, means so much to us all.

Your explanation of your condition shows great insight, and reinforces the concept of patient directed care which is what we embrace.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

Tina
