"Trolley beds in A&E are to small for a 6FT man"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a service user),

I was admitted to A&E via ambulance. The paramedics were a great team and worked well together. The staff in A&E took good care of me but the

trolley beds are too small for a 6ft man. The male nurse got me hospital bed

which was a lot more comfortable.

Dear flutenx77

Thank you so much for you very kind compliments towards our staff and service following your recent emergency.

Our staff work diligently, very often during difficult and traumatic circumstances. It is a huge boost to morale to hear positive feedback when you have performed well and your clinical and personal skills have been applauded.

I would very much like to share your comments with the crew who attended to you however would need a few extra details. If you would be prepared to discuss this further please contact me on amanda.sweetlove@nias.hscni.net

I hope you are feeling much better and enjoy a full and speedy recovery.

Kind regards

Amanda

Dear flutenx77 - further to the response above I wanted to post a response as well.

The trolleys are standard size and although they accommodate someone over 6 feet, a hospital bed would be much more comfortable as the emergency department trolleys are not designed for an individual to be lying on them for long periods. I am glad to read that the nurse got a hospital bed for you

I hope you are recovering

Best wishes
