"Positive ENT experience"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as a service user),

I had an appointment at the outpatient ENT department, and it went well. The waiting room was quiet enough (the TV was on though, which wasn't overly pleasant), and I didn't even have enough time to take my book out and find where I'd read up to before I was called through. The woman who did the first test was really nice, and again the wait when I went back through to the waiting area was very short. The consultant herself was incredibly nice, actually read my notes to see which other diagnoses I had, and was open to me explaining something she didn't know about one of them. She took these into consideration too, and was very clear in what she was doing, what would happen next, and what may or may not happen with the problem I have.

I think I asked for notes on what was discussed, I'm not sure. I have a terrible memory (which is why I sometimes ask... if I remember to!). Either way, I received a copy of the letter that was sent back to the GP, and it was, again, very clear about what had happened and should happen going forward.

It was such a nice experience, it was a complete relief given the horrible times I've had attending medical appointments before. I was worried I'd be treated badly for not wearing a mask (I've been forced to in the past, even though I'm exempt), but no one pressured or distressed me about it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your kind feedback on Care Opinion.

I have passed on your positive account during your visit to the ENT Outpatient clinic and to Dr Gray's Hospital to the wider team. The Consultant explained everything she was doing and what would happen next. You received a copy of the letter sent to your General Practitioner. You did not feel pressured into wearing a mask when you are exempt.

Thank you again for your lovely feedback and I wish you well.

Warmest wishes
