"All children wards should have individual rooms"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Blossom Ward (Paediatrics)

(as a parent/guardian),

The staff are very good in the Blossom Ward. They are attentive and get me anything I need. They are always checking in on me and my son. All staff are great, nurses, auxiliary, cleaners & student nurses but Nurses Noelle and Emily stand out the most for the care they provide. I was upset when asked to be moved to a double side room, my son is tested for Covid but parents are not I feel that due the current pandemic it would be inappropriate to share a room but when I explain this to the nurse they were very good and let me remain in the single room. I honestly feel that all children’s rooms should be individual even after the pandemic.
The Doctor’s ask questions when doing their morning round but then they do not update me on the care plan they just leave and I then have to ask the nurse.
The food is nice and the rooms very clean.

Thank you giftmt93 for providing your feedback about your experiences in Blossom Ward.

I was working on the ward at the beginning of last week and I know that the paediatric ward has been exceptionally busy with far more patients than we can normally accommodate. This would have been the reason why your son was moved to a double side room. We would only do this if it was believed to be safe to do so.

Unfortunately because of the very high numbers of patients admitted to the children's ward the doctors are not able to spend the time we would have liked with parents but our paediatric nurses are very aware of the care plans for each of their patients and update parents throughout their child's stay.
