I was admitted to ward 22 Royal Alexandria hospital
My care was adequate
Dementia patients were left to shout in distress during middle of night for extended periods and not treated compassionately
One woman in my room family could not find anyone each day to tell them about their loved one. Myself and another younger patient would require to handover her mood, her diet, and interventions. She had no assistance with meals and ate little.
It is very difficult to sleep in this environment due to the distressed dementia patients. Nurses would begin getting the elderly lady with dementia ready at 6am, how is she to recover without sleep never mind the entire ward.
I can however say the domestic staff were outstanding, cleanliness to a T, fresh water twice a day, conversation. I would personally say their job was the best done in the ward.
I appreciate the ward was newly opened but good nursing care is possible in this situation. Also nurses vape at the station on nights.
"Poor care"
