"Breach of confidentiality"

About: Gartnavel Royal Hospital / Mental Health

(as a service user),

I was an inpatient, I work in the NHS. A member of staff at Gartnavel Royal who does bank shifts at my workplace breached my confidentiality by informing a colleague of my situation.

I believe all staff at Gartnavel Royal should be made to understand their professional standards under the NMC code and be informed of the implications for them for doing so and the possible implications for my return to work.

Dear Taylor22

I am sorry for the delay in responding to your post.

I have shared your post with my colleagues from Mental Health. We are sorry that you have been left feeling distressed and disappointed. We take breaches of confidentiality seriously and we need to investigate this. As Care Opinion is anonymous, we would be grateful if you could contact our Complaints Team at: NWHSCP.Complaints@ggc.scot.nhs.uk so that we can investigate this.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing this you can contact the Patient Advice and Support Service (PASS). They provide independent and free advice and support for patients in Scotland. You can find more information at: Patient Advice & Support Service | Citizens Advice Scotland (cas.org.uk)

Kind Regards

Nicole
