"Care of our Mum"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Acute Medical Receiving Unit (AMRU) University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

My elderly Mum suffered a nasty fall at home sustaining a severe scalp laceration. We couldn't stop the bleeding at home and very reluctantly brought her to A&E as I know how busy the department is. She was treated by a fabulous team of Scott who took blood and Nadia and Stephanie who battled to stop the bleeding. I know my Mum is the bravest person on the planet but she was treated wonderfully in A&E. Thank you so much.

Into ward 3.  We didn't want Mum to remain in hospital so thanks to the care of RN Sandra and Dr McKay we brought her home promptly via the Discharge Lounge the following day. Thanks for everything you did, you supported us as a family to bring Mum home to where she wanted to be.

Take care all of you and thank you again.

Dear emmemmcee,

Thank you for your lovely feedback. It is very much appreciated and I will be delighted to share with staff of A&E and also ward 3. This must have been an anxious time for you and your mum and I'm so glad she was treated so well and her wishes were respected in that she was able to be supported to be discharged home.

I hope this finds you mum feeling better and once again I thank you for sharing your lovely story.

Kind Regards

Carol
