"Gynaecology nightmare- JR hospital, Oxford"

I am a teenager and have been having gynaecological problems for around 4 years. Since December 2020 it has become much worse. I was wrongly prescribed antibiotics by a nurse practitioner who dismissed my problems as a UTI without actually doing any tests. I then waited months for a referral to gynaecology at the John Radcliffe hospital.

I finally received an appointment for the gynaecology clinic for October 2021. I went to my appointment at 8:30am to be told that it had been cancelled (nobody had informed me of this prior to this morning) and I was to have a telephone consultation. I have had countless telephone consultations with no avail. I booked a day off work for this appointment and I don’t feel listened to.

I have had to quit college and give up my aspiration to become a pharmacist  because of the day-to-day impact that my gynae problems are causing me and some days I can’t even get out of bed. It has been 10 months of pure torture and fighting with numerous healthcare professionals and I still don’t feel truly listened to. This whole process has caused much upset and has ruined my mental health. Some days I don’t want to be alive anymore. I just want someone to help me find out what is wrong with me so we can manage the symptoms. I am a shell of my former self and this is no way for a 17 year old girl to live.
