"New mirena coil fitting"

About: Sexual Health Services - South Staffordshire (Open Clinic)

(as a service user),

Firstly arriving at the address, i wasnt completely sure i was in the right place, the signage was different. I had googled it as open clinic but at the location it said stafford borough council and it just looked like an office block but going up to the second floor it did look like a hospital.

Appointment was on time. Clinic spotlessly clean. Doctors and nurses all very friendly and informative, telling you when and whats going to happen. I did feel sightly anxious even though this was my 4th coil and my previous coil had real problems with removal as threads had been cut too short, so i thought it couldnt be much worse than last time.

I wouldnt say im a wimp but it is quite uncomfortable, made me go hot and sick feeling with shaky legs and stomache cramps like you wouldnt beleive!

Nurse does show genuine compassion and they did say they would stop at any time but, me being me, just wanted to get it over and done with.

The nurse put the fan on and kept checking on me, trying to distract me a little with conversation. It felt like it lasted ages but the appointment only took 45 mins.

I do wonder if just a bit of gas and air would help with the whole experience and a quick scan upon completion to make sure it is in the right place, would make the proceedure more complete and remove the worry of it not being in the right position or have perforated your womb.

They left me to recover untill i was ready to get dressed saying there was no rush, but i just wanted to get home to feel sorry for myself.

Overall though, i do think the service i received was great with current coronavirus restrictions.
