My diabetic friend was having a hypo and despite giving him an unhealthy amount of sugar and complex carbs we couldn't get his blood sugars back up. After half an hour we decided it would be best to phone an ambulance as his condition wasn't improving and he was soaked in sweat. We were conscious of the pressure the SAS is under at the moment and felt reluctant phoning but we felt we had to call. The call handler was professional and to the point and warned us we could have a 40 minute wait. Thankfully we didn't wait long at all and James the FRV paramedic arrived. My friend was given IV glucose and after a bit of waiting began to feel more himself. James shared a laugh and a joke with our 'lad banter' but was of course professional throughout too! Thank you very much James and SAS.
