"Went the extra mile"

About: Poole Hospital

We bought our son into A and E last night, having phoned 111. We were seen quickly and then sent to a paediatric area of A and E. My son was in a bed within an hour, in a much calmer area of the hospital. We had a bit of a wait, as they were so busy, but they kept us up to date with what was going on and made sure we were comfortable. We were all set to leave, when my son took a turn for the worse. We were taken straight up to the paediatric ward and looked after until morning.

I suffer from epilepsy and I was worried about not getting enough sleep (as this would bring on a seizure of my own, which wouldn’t have helped anyone.) All the staff looked after us both extremely well and gave my son exceptional care and support, as he was a bit anxious.

Thank you so much. He is on the mend and his experience means he won’t be scared of medical treatment in the future.

Dear Anonymous

It sounds like you had a worrying evening, both for your son and yourself.

We are pleased to hear the staff from ED and paediatrics did a great job of keeping you informed while treating your son and helping you to manage your own condition in difficult circumstances.

It is good to know your boy is ok and you feel this positive experience will help him in the future.

We will forward your kind comments on to the Matron to share with the staff.

Regards

Patient Experience Team
