"Accommodation"

About: Cancer Services / Living With & Beyond Cancer (Fern Centre)

(as a service user),

Only heard of this place from wife who was undergoing emergency treatment, but was worried. Nurse/ward sister arranged & i think process was not so straightforward.

Fantastic place & perfect for my requirements, everything works well.

Possible drop off/access/signage needs improving & long way from the car park if not mobile. Otherwise, lovely thoughtful facility for patients partners who would otherwise be struggling for short term accommodation and also a worry to their sick others.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback. I’m sorry your wife had to have emergency treatment and I hope she recovers soon. I’m so glad you found the accommodation met your needs, we are very lucky to have this facility available at our Fern Centre.

I’m sorry the ward found the process of referring you to the accommodation complicated and we are currently reviewing this. I will also feedback regarding the signage and parking and we would welcome any further feedback.

Hi Rhea, hope I didn't sound "grumbly"!!!! The questionnaire was a bit heavy after a poor nights sleep but thought some feedback might be useful. Its not clear and tricky to park near to entrance with luggage (I did figure out the access ramp at rear) but it does need better signage for those who might find these things more challenging. I also found it very difficult to pay.

Hi George,

I hope your wife is recovering and that you are keeping well?!

I just wanted to let you know that thanks to your feedback, l have had a meeting with the facilities team as well as the Fern Centre Manager and representatives from our hospital charity and we are currently making the process for payment easier, with the availability of a card machine when you collect your keys. The estates team are also looking at if we can make signage clearer around the hospital and on our information leaflets.

Thank you again for your feedback as it’s only with this that we can improve our services and ensure we provide the best possible experience for our patients and their loved ones.
