"My hospital appointment"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I went to Wishaw hospital for my appointment .

The staff were terrific. Caring, kind, and considerate. It came over very clearly how much they are interested in the welfare of the patients.

However two criticisms, neither of which are the fault of the staff.

Firstly I had to wait two hours to be taken for my procedure. The last 1hour and 15 minutes of which was in a hospital gown.

Secondly no one seemed to know that I have diverticulitis. As a result when the gas/air was inserted into my colon this pressed against the diverticulitis and caused severe pain. To be fair the staff reacted very quickly to this. But as the air remained in the colon the pain remained.

Dear Miketdoc, thank you sharing your feedback on Care Opinion.

I’m pleased to hear you thought our team were terrific! I will pass on your kind comments and I’m sure they will be delighted.

I apologise for your lengthy wait in our unit, some procedures take considerably longer than anticipated and this has an effect on the flow of the list and I understand that delays can add to our patient’s anxiety.

The gas we use to inflate your bowel can cause discomfort and our staff are experienced in the management of this, I’m pleased that they reacted quickly. As this platform is anonymised I am unable to look into your care further however if you would like me to do this please get in touch on 01698 361100 ext. 5858.

I hope you are recovering well at home.

Kind regards, Lynne.
