Although not a patient I attended for a mammogram on 7.10.21 after driving a considerable distance and popped into the surgery to ask if I could use the toilet. I explained that I was there for mammogram and had a considerable journey home. The response was ‘were not allowed to’ which I can understand up to a point, but if the practice is providing space for breast screening service why are toilet facilities not available. I was wearing a mask. Would I get the same response if I was a vulnerable person or picking someone up from the flu clinic? I don’t need a standardised reply, I just felt humiliated in front of a sneering young man on the front desk, and embarrassed that a basic human necessity could not be accommodated in a medical environment.
