"Poor service and attitude by District nurses"

About: NHS Blackburn With Darwen / District Nursing

(as a relative),

My 92 year old mother has been suffering from cellulitis and has just completed her fouth course of antibiotics this year. The doctor was so concerned that she phoned up my mother, on the day she completed the course and asked how she was. Mum said she wasn't sure as the affected area was not easy for her to see, so the doctor recommended that mum contact the district nurses, who have visited previously over the same condition.

Mum phoned, and was brusquely told "we can't come today". Mum was told they would come tomorrow. When she asked if that was morning or afternoon she was told "we can't say".

Mum waited in all day, though she would have liked to have been taken to church as she usually does on wednesday in lent, When nobody had come be 5: 00 pm mum phoned up again and was told "we'll come sometime tomorrow" in such a rude way that mum burst into tears.

The district nurses had made no attempt to tell my mum they wouldn't be coming, which is, at best, ignorant, and, at worst, negligent, given mum's history with this particular condition.

The service level and attitude stinks.

British Gas have phoned me, made an appointment, phoned me to say they were on the way, and fixed my new Beko dryer in less time than the district nurses have taken to help fix a 92 year old lady.
