My son is 7 and has a diagnosis of autism, sleep difficulties, pica and he has always struggled with violence, attention, sleep and emotion but over the last couple of years this has got to the point of him self harming, being suicidal at times. Hearing voices. Trying to hurt himself, and me. He goes nights without sleeping, literally. He never stops.
He was originally referred in December 2020 by our gp for mental health support, we got a letter shortly after saying the service was being redeveloped and they had no idea when we would be seen. That was it. Since then we’ve had to contact the duty/crisis team 3 times and another referral has went in from his paediatrician for adhd assessment as she feels he fits this criteria.
We still have no idea on when he’ll be seen. 10 months from an original referal for a 6/7 year old with mental health problems who expresses wanting to die, who hurts himself, who goes from 0-100 and has the level of impulsively my son does isn’t good enough.
