My father was admitted to FVRH acutely unwell. He has been looked after by both the Acute Assessment Unit and the staff on Ward B31 (General Medicine/ Respiratory).
We have nothing but immense praise for the care he has received to date. Even though the staff are clearly very busy and must have been (and remain) under intense duress dealing with the Covid pandemic and its knock on effects, the communication and compassion from the doctors and nurses (RGNs, auxiliaries and student nurses) has been absolutely outstanding. We have never felt ignored and it is obvious that the staff are truly committed to their jobs; they make the effort to respect and preserve patient dignity, and also make the time to speak to relatives .
It is also clear that the staff on the ward bond well together with a real team spirit, and ward staff have volunteered to us that the ward is very well led. There are several student nurses on the ward and you can see they are mentored brilliantly by more senior staff. The physios, domestic and cleaning staff have also been wonderful, and we know that many others such as pharmacists and porters have also been involved in helping my father.
There are really no adequate words to express our gratitude. This is the NHS at its very best.
