"Lack of follow up"

About: East Surrey Hospital

Didn't link up orthopedics with rheumatoid arthritis specialists despite diagnosis/history. Follow up appointment post discharge not booked and were chased on three occasions, physio referral not sent and had to be chased. Nurses working were not permanent staff and it was obvious in the care they provided they were not invested in caring for patients adequately.

A very disappointing experience. Would suggest going to another hospital if you can.

Dear patient,

My name is Osama Nooh and I am the General Manager for the Trauma & Orthopaedic service.

I'm very sorry to hear that you have not had a positive experience with your treatment. This is certainly not the service we strive to deliver. As you may be aware, MSK pathways can be quite complex and involve multiple different services and organisations to deliver all aspects of the care required, however this should be facilitated for the patient and explained to you at every point what the next step is and who will be delivering it and what is the timeframe to expect.

If you would like to contact me directly via email at osama.nooh@nhs.net, then I can help look into what went wrong for you and help progress the rest of your treatment.

Best wishes.
