"Wait to be seen in A&E too long"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

My daughter brought me to A&E due to a fall at home. The wait in A&E was very long. I had to wait in reception area for 9 hours in a wheelchair which was uncomfortable. Once I was moved into yellow bay the nurse offered me a hospital bed. The staff in A&E are very good but if there was a T.V or some sort of entertainment whilst waiting in reception it would be help the time pass when it is extremely busy. The food in the shop is expensive and I think it should be cheaper for patients as I had no choice but to purchase food from there due to long wait in reception area. I was then moved to 2 north and the staff are brilliant. The consultant explained everything and ensured I understood the procedure before sending me for my MRI scan. The meals in the ward are very tasty and I am really enjoying them.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to share you story via care opinion.

I am sorry to see you had a long uncomfortable wait in the reception area. Unfortunately we have been under a lot of pressure recently and this area regularly does be crowded. There is however a TV in the waiting area, that is normally on, I can check this is still the case.

It is heartwarming to see that you had a positive experience once into a clinical area.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Lisa

Clinical Sister
