My daughter had fallen at nursery and banged her head, she seemed fine that day, however over night she began vomiting. The next morning she was still vomiting so we decided to take her to the kids A and E to get her checked.
We were met at the front entrance by a very friendly nurse who asked a few questions and sent us through to book in. The receptionist who took my daughters details was polite and friendly.
After a short wait Shauna the nurse who would be looking after us showed us through to a space in the A and E department. Shauna was very friendly and professional and went out of her way to put my very worried 4 yr old at ease. She took time to explain everything to her.
We were quickly seen by a junior doctor and then a consultant. Both of whom took time to go through what had happened and my daughters symptoms. They thoroughly examined her (despite her best protests with saying “NO!” to everything they were asking her to do). We were discharged home with advice on worsening which made me feel very reassured.
We were lucky that even given the current demand in A and E departments we were seen and discharged quickly. I just want to say a huge thank you to Shauna, the other nurses and the doctors for being so caring and continuing to do it all with a smile on their faces despite the busy and stressful times they are working in at present.
"We were seen and discharged quickly"
