"Better organisation and communication is needed"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 4 South Surgical (Progressive Care) Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I was admitted to ED following advice from my GP. I waited in A&E for 14 hours. I was seen swiftly by Nurses but then had to wait hours to see a doctor. I think that if a minor injury was open 24 hours it would help ease the pressure for staff in A&E.

I am happy with treatment and care received in 4 south but waiting for my colonoscopy was vexing.I was advised to fast before colonoscopy only for the test to be cancelled.This happened 4 times before I finally received the test. I am happy with careprovided by staff in 4 south but feel that better organization andcommunication  is needed for scans and testsoutside the ward. I understand the pressure the NHS is under but it is unfairto fast patient if procedure will not go ahead.

Thank you taking time to provide feedback. I was sorry to hear your procedure was cancelled four times, but unfortunately often this is the case due to being placed on an emergency theatre list. I am glad to hear you where happy with the care given by 4 south staff.

I am sorry to hear of your recent experience.

With regards to long waits in the Emergency Department, our services have been under a lot of pressure recently and we do appreciate that this can be very difficult for our patients.
