"Prostate cancer treatment at the Deansley Centre"

About: New Cross Hospital / Cancer Care New Cross Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

My treatment was due to start on the 1st April 2020 just as all the hospitals were shutting down departments because of the Corona virus. I was to receive a phone call to verify the start of treatment on the 31st March and was absolutely terrified that my treatment would be cancelled. The day came and to my delight I was told to arrive at the Deansley Centre at a given time, the whole system had been changed because of covid.

I went in on time had my treatment and came out as if nothing was happening in the world outside, the staff were marvellous, really kind and pleasant although it was really scary, empty waiting rooms and empty corridors. This scenario went on through the whole of April the staff were great, turning up for their shift day after day when the whole world was terrified of what was going to happen. My treatment was  successful and I feel I owe my life to the unassuming staff of the Deansley centre. They were great.
