"He made my visit a pleasure."

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Neurology (Brain, Spinal and Nerves)

(as a service user),

In Ward 204 at ARI this week I arrived early for an appointment, upon asking the healthcare support worker where the closest place to get a cup of tea from was. He offered to make one for me while I waited to save me the walk. He was busy with lots of people arriving and other members of staff calling upon him but it seemed that nothing was too much trouble for him and everything was done with a smile, this is the sort of person who should be available to work on every ward/department.

I did not get his name but he was an older, balding gentleman.

He made my visit a pleasure.

Dear elginred,

I agree it would be lovely to have a David in every ward in the hospital, he is an absolute asset to the team and we are very lucky to have him.

The Senior Charge Nurse for 204 shared your feedback with him and he said he was just doing his job but was overjoyed you had taken the time to thank him and notice his efforts. A cup of tea is of course much more than just a hot drink and we are all glad he’s there to welcome patients and give that excellent first impression.

Thanks again and take care,

Alison
