"Travelling great distances to get a jab"

About: NHS Lothian / Covid 19 Vaccination Programme

(as a service user),

Edinburgh under NHS Lothian has one of the lowest vaccine rates in Scotland perhaps because their so called 'Local,' centres are not particularly local to many residents in Edinburgh. My 'local' centre was a two bus journey to the EICC.

But my story is about an 84 year old neighbour who received a letter from NHS Lothian for her Flu and COVID booster jab and all she had to do was make her way to Haddington and she stays in Craigentinny.

Surely given the abundance of bureaucracy in NHS Lothian getting a flu or for that matter a COVID jab should be organised so that we are not having to travel great distances to get either.

Dear MrFraggle

Thank you very much for getting in touch with us regarding your neighbour's Flu / COVID vaccination appointment.

We were made aware of this issue recently and would like to apologise to people who have been asked to travel further than they would have expected. Please can I ask that your neighbour contacts the NHS Lothian Enquiries Team (0300 790 6296) who will try to assist your neighbour change her appointment to a venue that is closer to her home.

Kind regards

Jeannette

I believe she tried that but they were most unhelpful.
